Teaching runs in my blood.  Most of my family members have spent their entire lives teaching, including my mother, Norah, who retired from teaching after thirty-five years. It wasn’t until I started my job as an Academic Coach and parent at High Tech High International that I began envisioning myself as a teacher with my own classroom.

Now that I am a teacher resident, or student teacher, I am guided by a mission; to help my students realize the positive impact they have individually and collectively.

Before becoming a high school history teacher, I spent the majority of my professional career as a private piano instructor and piano performer. I have over thirty years of experience teaching piano and I still consider myself a student of piano, since for as long as I live, there will be songs to learn and stories to tell through music.

I am the mother of a Junior at High Tech High International and it is absolutely amazing to teach in the same school where Andreas attends. I find it to be the greatest gift of my entire life! He might have a difference of opinion, however.

What is really special to me is that I will be graduating from the High Tech High Graduate School of Education the same year Andreas will be graduating from high school. So, we’re graduating the same year from the same place! Not many can say they have had that experience.

I live in Point Loma with my husband, Craig, my son, Andreas and my beautiful Border Collie, Bear. They are my world.

On my days off my favorite thing to do is take a nap at the beach. I love lazy days and watching my son and husband ride waves.
